Sponsorship is a way of providing basic needs and education for an underprivileged child or young person through the Delek Children’s Foundation. You may directly sponsor a boarding or day student, which means paying set fees on an annual basis. It is up to each sponsor to decide whether they want to be in contact with the child or young person they sponsor or if they wish to remain anonymous. We urge you to join us in providing essential care to those in need through the Delek Children’s Foundation. In the Himalayan region, preventable health conditions like cataracts significantly impact residents’ vision and overall well-being.
Understanding the obstacles of geographical isolation and economic constraints, we are committed to closing the gap in access to specialized medical services. Our comprehensive eye care programs encompass vision screenings, eye examinations, cataract surgeries, and the distribution of eyeglasses, aiming for a lasting impact on these communities.
In a recent initiative, upon the elders’ request from Tsum and Nubri Valley, 40 seniors embarked on a pilgrimage to Dharamsala, India, to receive blessings from His Holiness the Dalai Lama. This pilgrimage holds profound cultural, spiritual, and psychological significance for these seniors, many of whom have never ventured beyond their villages and deeply cherish the teachings of the Dalai Lama.
Additionally, beyond medical assistance, we provide blankets, shoes, clothing, and other essentials to those in need. Ven. Thupten Donyo started this Foundation on His Holiness Dalai Lama’s advice during the visit in San Francisco in 2007. That year Ven Donyo was able to organize series of talks by His Holiness Dalai Lama at Bill Graham Hall in San Francisco. During the visit, His Holiness advised him to help uplift the lives of the Himalayan children.
